Scope and Contents Three 8 x 10" proof sheets by Helmut Newton. Helmut Newton photographed George Hurrell in his home in North Hollywood. Shots include poses in front of George Hurrell's famous posing screen that he used from the 1930's as a backdrop with his client stars. It was originally a 3 panel screen, however as of the mid 1950's only 2 panels survive, as shown. There are other photos of this screen in the Archive showing his children with Phyllis Bounds Hurrell posed in front of the then 3-panel...

Scope and Contents George Hurrell, 1984, portraits by Helmut Newton, taken at Hurrell's home located at 6702 St. Clair Ave., North Hollywood, CA. He is seen posed in the den of his home in front of his famous posing screen that he used since 1929 and all during his time at MGM. He later (circa 1950) painted the screen in the surrealistic style...a favorite style of GH. The screen originally had 3 panels. He is seen holding an envelope containing rejected nudes for a Playboy Magazine shoot. 11 x 14" gelatin...
