Abstract

The papers consist of biographical information, photographs, programs, and text of speeches and testimony documenting the life of Ermanno J. Stingo and his support of gay and lesbian rights, 1982-1995. A native of New York City, he and his partner, Boris Maysel became increasing involved in the movement. They attended the West Side Discussion group and marched in Pride parades. Stingo also testified a number of times at city hall hearings in support of gay and lesbian rights bills.

Letters, photographs, ephemera and a large scrapbook created and collected by Mary ("Mollie") Stoddard, president of the Los Angeles Florence Crittenton Home in the 1920s. The papers document the Home, and Mollie's personal and philanthropic pursuits. Mary ("Mollie") Wilcox Stoddard (later Mary Wilcox Hurd) was born in Placerville, CA in 1870. Mollie was a long time supporter and president of the Los Angeles Florence Crittenton Home.

Abstract

Robert Sully was an actor and a designer. In addition to working for such well known firms as Raymond Loewy Associates, he also founded his own design firm, the Argonaut Company. He earned a Masters and Ph.D from Claremont Graduate School, and taught at UC Santa Barbara on advertising and culture. The papers include photographs, typescripts, interview transcripts, and letters for a planned photographic essay on concert artists.
