Record Albums, 1946-1961

 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

The record albums in this sub-series are mostly recordings of performances of Kanitz's compositions. There are a number of duplicates, and some records are masters for other recordings. There are a few broken records, which Kanitz himself had labeled. Most of them are 12" discs, with a few smaller. They are organized in alphabetical order on the finding aid for ease of use, but physically remain in their original order. There seems to have been another ordering system at some point for these records, as most are numbered at the bottom of the sleeve. However, they were not found in order, and have been kept as-is except for the use of some acid-free sleeves. The original sleeves have been kept next to the new, acid-free ones.
