Scope and Contents

This collection contains photographs, clippings, audio discs, and production materials from film, television, and theater projects of German director John Brahm (1893-1982), dating from the 1920s to the 1960s and chiefly for American projects. There are also apprxomiately 40 musical transcription discs from Brahm films. There are some photographs and scripts from Brahm's early work in the German and Austrian theater in the 1920s and 1930s. Most film projects only have a few items such as production stills, behind-the-scenes photographs often of Brahms with cast and crew or press clippings. There are scripts for the movies Counsel for Crime (incomplete), The Lodger, and The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima and television episode scripts from The Alfred Hitchcock Hour and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (Box 3). There are three books of production stills for Broken Blossoms, The Thief of Venice, and Special Delivery (Box 3). There is also a 3-tape oral history interview of Brahm from 1973 (Box 3).
