Scope and Contents Prior to completing Channeling Mark Twain, Muske-Dukes sent out a short story titled "Contraband," which she submitted to The New Yorker and Esquire. Although this story was ultimately rejected by both publications, it contains many key elements for the opening to Channeling Mark Twain. This story is based on a chapter from an unpublished novel titled The Honey-Producers or Edelweiss, depending upon the draft. Two complete manuscripts of Channeling Mark Twain and one incomplete manuscript. Enclosed with the manuscript contained in folders 6:7-6:8 is a poem deleted from final draft (p.220). Enclosed with the incomplete manuscript (7:2) are letters from Random House Associate Editor Laura Ford that regarding her recommendations for revision before sending the manuscript along to production.
