Scope and Contents From the Series:

The George Hurrell publicity series consists of clippings, letters, brochures, photographs, catalogs, and ephemera documenting Hurrell’s career and activities as a photographer. The bulk of the series consists of magazines and journals in which articles about Hurrell appeared. Also included are publicity materials for the CAI portfolios, individual clippings of articles about Hurrell, and various catalogs advertising Hurrell’s work.

Scope and Contents From the Series:

The George Hurrell personal series consists primarily of family-related items, including many photographs of Hurrell with his family and at home, books and documents about the Hurrell family name, personal and art photographs taken by Hurrell, and an original drawing by Hurrell.

Scope and Contents From the Sub-Series: The GH commercial photography subseries consists of photographs created by Hurrell, and print materials in which Hurrell’s photographs appeared. These consist of portraits created by Hurrell in his studio that employ his characteristic lighting; photographs taken by and of Hurrell during identified photo shoots, including a number for Paris Vogue; magazines and newspapers in which Hurrell’s photographs appeared; various commercial products that used Hurrell’s photographs, including...
