Scope and Contents

Richard Nixon's presidency ephemera, realia, and graphic materials subseries consists of political cartoons, caricatures, offset lithographs, license plates, certificates, letters, posters, and textiles, 1968-1973 and undated, collected by Herbert G. Klein during his tenure as White House Director of Communications. Of particular note are the many original cartoons and caricatures inscribed to Klein. The realia and ephemera include official license plates from Nixon's 1969 inauguration; White House stationery; printed ephemera from Klein's 1973 trip to Asia; presidential medals; cigarettes collected by Klein on trips to Russia, Vietnam, and China, and cigarettes with the Presidential seal; and Richard Nixon souvenir pens and tie tacks.
