This small collection consists primarily of mounted (on 16 x 20" boards) photographs of late 19th and early 20th century American authors, literary scholars, and persons of note, including Walt Whitman, Julia Ward Howe, Louise Chandler Moulton, Joaquin Miller, Lyman Abbott, George Wharton James, and William Jennings Bryan, to name a few.

The bulk of the collection is drafts of fictional works by Cleve Boutell. There is also correspondence with her lesbian sister Hortense "Bo" Boutell (1913-2006), a lieutenant colonel and the first female logistician in the United States Army.
