The Library School of the Los Angeles Public Library was established in 1891 as a training class of the Los Angeles Public Library; from 1914 to 1934 it was conducted as a library school with a full curriculum involving between ten and fifteen courses plus field work. In 1935 the library school became the purview of the University of Southern California-- an accredited library school which closed fifty years later in 1985.
