The material in this collection had been sent to the United States Patent Office by companies to copyright their artistic and literary creations. After the U.S. Patent office deaccessioned the labels and packaging, they were held in a private collection for over a decade. The labels were created for products as diverse as perfume bottles, toiletries and other personal care items; candies and food items; equipment; trading posts; pesticides; film; hotels; liquor; art supplies; and banks and insurance companies.
