In 1940, Alfred and his daughter Marion were able to obtain visas to the United States as part of the "French" quota, and traveled to the U.S. via Japan and settled in San Francisco. Alfred worked at the Richelieu Hotel and then for Levi Strauss before getting a job in 1945 with the Southern Pacific Railroad. This collection contains the papers of the Soler family, a Mexican family of actors, chiefly focused on the theatrical and film work of Andres Soler (1898-1969) and his goddaughter actor Gloria Jordan (born circa 1924). Materials chiefly consist of newspaper and magazine press clippings, theatrical programs, and many photographs of the family, both personal images and publicity photographs. The bulk of the collection dates from the 1930s to the 1950s.
