The collection consists of miscellaneous materials relating to the Council on Religion and the Homosexual, founded in San Francisco in 1965, primarily for the period 1965-1973.
Membership card, event programs, publicity material, flyers, clippings and other material documenting activities of the First Church of One Brotherhood (FCOB), 1956-1976. The non-denominational church, founded by Charles (Chuck) Rowland, was intended to address the spiritual needs of religious gay men.
Correspondence, flyers, newsletters, clippings, memoranda, notes, meeting notes, depositions, receipts, articles, essays, broadsides, legal papers, medical certificates and other material from activist and gay religious leader, Mikhail (Michael) Itkin, 1956-1989. A religious leader of various congregations, Itkin was also a gay rights and political activist.
Video and audio tapes and CD-ROMs of conference proceedings of the Universal Fellowship of the Metropolitan Community Church (UFMCC) and its congregation in Long Beach (MCCLB), along with recordings of events, lectures, sermons, and services related to religion and homosexuality, 1984-2002.
