Abstract

Collection of letters and photographs collected by Erica (Ricky) Gunter. The bulk of the letters (including telegrams) are from Richard (Dick) Paxton. Gunter was a German Jew who fled Nazi Germany with her brother. She met Paxton in 1944 or early 1945 while serving as a camera operator creating military training films. Dick Paxton was a regular character actor in a number of films.

Abstract Harry K. Wolff Jr. was a Jewish lawyer from San Francisco who was a member of "C" Battery 120 AAA Gun Batallion, 3rd Army. His unit was initially under the command of General Omar Bradley, and ultimately General George Patton. Wolff was also called upon to represent American soldiers in military tribunal proceedings as a Judge Advocate, bore witness to the aftermath found at both Ohrdruf and Dachau concentration camps, and was one of the officers responsible for over 30,000 Nazi soldiers and...

Ten are personal albums of Nazi serviceman; one is the personal album of an American serviceman depicting American allied forces. Two albums are of official Nazi party or press photography. Also includes one bound intelligence report for a reconnaissance unit in the Balkans.
