Abstract
This small collection of postcards came to USC chiefly through the California Historical Society. Many of them appear to have originated with the same few families, based on notes and addresses on them. The images are of geographic subjects especially California, but there are also many European scenes and some non-geographical postcards.

The Dancing Cansinos photograph album consists of photographs and ephemera relating to the Dancing Cansinos, a family of professional dancers who emigrated from Spain and eventually settled in Los Angeles. The Edwin and Louise Griffiths collection of Southern California postcards consists of 33 historic postcards of Southern California sites and neighborhoods, including the San Gabriel Mission, Santa Catalina Island, and Mount Lowe Railway. The William C. Herbert papers was brought to USC during the 1990s via Associate Dean for Development and Law School Historian John (Tom) Tomlinson whose expertise includes the history of USC. Though the collection's focus is the correspondence between Herbert and his mother during World War II when he was overseas, at some point later, Herbert studied and graduated from USC with a B.S. in Social Studies. A collection of Southern California memorabilia and ephemera collected by John F. Merritt, founder of Californians for Preservation Action and its successor organization, California Preservation Foundation (CPF). The collection contains postcards, pamphlets, magazines, produce crate labels, prints, comic books, illustrations, and countercultural political materials created between 1899 and 2005, with the bulk of the collection spanning from 1910 to 1970.
