Alphonzo Bell, Jr. (1914-2004) was a United States Congressman who represented the 27th and 28th Congressional Districts - which encompassed the communities of Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Brentwood, Bel Air, and West Los Angeles - between 1961 and 1977. Materials within the collection date from the 1930s to the 1980s and document Bell's political career.

David Berman (1917-2014) was a Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Cell and Neurobiology at the Keck School of Medicine, where he taught pharmacology for 60 years. Ed Cray (b. 1933) is a veteran journalist and associate professor of journalism at USC. The collection includes Volumes 1-18 (1949-67) of the liberal West Coast political weekly/monthly Frontier Magazine, edited by Phil Kerby. Cray often wrote for the publication. Also included are posters, photographs by Cray, and notes, typescripts and correspondence on Cray's publications, California politics and American foreign policy.
