A collection of nineteen letters written by Orion Ashenfelter to his family while on his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy, which began on January 29, 1900. Included in these letters is an eyewitness account of events during the Boxer Rebellion in China.

This small collection, gathered by William R. Flournoy, father of former California State Controller Houston Flournoy, consists of letters from the front; leaflets from points-of-interest in England and France; copy of an Army field manual belonging to Flournoy.
Erica Gunter papers
Collection of letters and photographs collected by Erica (Ricky) Gunter. The bulk of the letters (including telegrams) are from Richard (Dick) Paxton. Gunter was a German Jew who fled Nazi Germany with her brother. She met Paxton in 1944 or early 1945 while serving as a camera operator creating military training films. Dick Paxton was a regular character actor in a number of films.
William C. Herbert papers
The William C. Herbert papers was brought to USC during the 1990s via Associate Dean for Development and Law School Historian John (Tom) Tomlinson whose expertise includes the history of USC. Though the collection's focus is the correspondence between Herbert and his mother during World War II when he was overseas, at some point later, Herbert studied and graduated from USC with a B.S. in Social Studies. His graduation photo is in the 1957 edition of USC's El Rodeo

Arthur Mansback papers
The Arthur Mansback papers consists of letters, postcards, telegrams, photographs, training materials, and printed ephemera created and collected by Private Arthur Mansback during his tour of duty in the United States Army Expeditionary Forces in France during the second half of 1918. The letters, in conjunction with Mansback's training materials and the postcards he collected, provide a broad overview of the daily life of an American foot soldier during the last months of World War I.
Harold Martinez correspondence
26 letters written by Mexican-American solider Harold Martinez between June 1944 nd March 1946 while serving in the military during World War II. Addressed to his brother George, also in the army, and his mother, the letters begin when Harold was serving as a tank driver at Fort Knox. A few of the letters are stamped by the Army censor. Martinez was born in Arizona in 1925. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps at Fort MacArthur in San Pedro, California, on March 1, 1944.
