The collection comprises correspondence and clippings, 1961-1993, from former USC Cinema Department staff member, Maynard T. Smith. Included are materials related to Smith's plans to produce a film in the early 1960s about the Bayeux Tapestry in France.

Biographical / Historical

Maynard T. Smith worked on the staff of the Cinema department at the University of Southern California. In the early 1960s, Smith left USC for a brief period with plans to produce a film in France.

In 1983, Smith went into business with Richard Silverthorn to co-found Simian Word Processing, a company geared toward providing publishing services for students.
