Arthur, a gay man, was closeted at the time of his acting career and later moved to Washington to start an insurance business and join the Log Cabin Republicans. Wood and Arthur wrote each other regularly. Fairbanks often wrote articles about Arthur's career and later published Arthur's memoir posthumously.
