Scope and Contents
The records consist of the individual issues of ONE Book Service as well as other promotional material published by the book department of ONE Inc., 1955-1979. Roughly 40 issues of the ONE Book Service series were published under various titles from 1958-1971, although other material referencing books sales and the book service were published from 1955-1979. Note that not all Books Service publications may be represented in these records. Additional publications regarding the sale of books may be found in the promotional materials section.

Biographical / Historical
Although the Book Service department of ONE Inc. started in 1955 with the release of James Barr's Game of Fools, the ONE Book Service publication didn't begin until April 1958. This first issue explained that "the growth of ONE Book Service in the past three years has convinced us of the need of some sort of regular notification to our readers and book customers regarding new and interesting titles available in this field." While the series lasted until 1971, it never became a regularly scheduled publication. The publication displayed variable titles over the years including Book Notes from ONE, ONE Book Service, ONE Bookservice, ONE Book Service Book Notes, ONE Bookservice Booklist, ONE Bookservice Checklist, and ONE's Book Service Checklist.
