This subseries contains the records of the Los Angeles chapter of Dignity, which were separated from those of the other chapters because of their bulk. Although Dignity was founded in San Diego, the Los Angeles chapter, founded later the same year (1969), soon became larger--indeed, from shortly after its inception it has always been the largest chapter in the organization-and functioned as a de facto central administration before the National Office was created. The subseries therefore contains some materials that can be considered appropriate to the National Office. The subseries is divided into two subsubseries: (1) General Correspondence, and (2) Subject Files.
