Scope and Contents

This collection contains the papers of American composer, organist, teacher, and USC alumnus Rayner Brown (1912-1999). Materials include music scores, manuscripts, and books. Brown composed over 200 pieces of music over his career. He also taught at Biola University and was the church organist for the Wilshire Presbyterian Church.

Biographical / Historical

Rayner Brown (1912-1999) was an American composer, organist, and teacher. Brown wrote over 200 compositions. He was a church organist from 1941 to 1977 at the Wilshire Presbyterian Church. He also taught at Biola University. He was a graduate from the University of Southern California, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in organ and a Master of Music degree in composition.
