Collection consists of the papers and concert recordings of Efrain Guigui, Panamanian-born clarinetist and conductor. Materials include personal papers, awards, concert programs, photographs, audio recordings and VHS tapes of performances.

Biographical / Historical
Efrain Guigui (1925-2007) was born in Panama, and grew up in Argentina, where he attended the Student Music Conservatory in Buenos Aires. At the age of 15, Guigui was the youngest clarinetist to ever play first chair in the Buenos Aires Symphony Orchestra. Guigui completed advanced studies in conducting and composition at Boston University and went on to serve as the Music Director of the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra and the conductor for the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. He founded the Youth Symphony Orchestra and the School of Music for High School students in Mexico, and conducted symphony orchestras worldwide. Guigui was the music director for the Local Union Senior Symphony Orchestra in Los Angeles prior to his death in 2007.
