Scope and Contents

The collection consists of separately published pamphlets recording Kim Chŏng-il's speeches delivered on special occasions and his meetings with foreign reporters and dignitaries, from 1962-2003, covering every decade. The materials have a variety of topics such as the justifiability and reinforcement of the party, the support of communism in many sectors and the indoctrination of the North Korean with (North Korea's) Chuch’e Idea (Chuch’e Sasang, 주체사상) and Socialism.

Biographical note

Kim Chŏng-il (16 February 1941 – 17 December 2011), was the Supreme Leader of The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK; 조선민주주의인민공화국; Chosŏn Minjujuŭi Inmin Konghwaguk; commonly called North Korea) from 1994 to 2011. He succeeded his father and founder of the DPRK, Kim Il-sŏng, following the elder Kim's death in 1994. Kim Chŏng-il was the General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), Chairman of the National Defence Commission of North Korea, and the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, the fourth-largest standing army in the world.
