Scope and Contents

This collection contains eighteen 1/4" reel audio tapes recorded by Kyeng Bo Kim (1883-1976) beginning around the late 1950s. The tapes have not been digitized, but appear to include recording of oral histories, family, business, and social events, and songs. Some of the reel labels reference the "Korean American Comp.", "Korean American Meeting," "Christmas Greeting,' "Kyeng Bo Kim birthday celebration, July 28, 1963." There are also 43 color slide transparencies with images of the Kim family and awards and plaques.

Biographical / Historical

Kyeng Bo Kim was born in Korea in 1883. He arrived in the United States on August 12, 1904, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and later became a restaurant manager and lived with his family in California. He married Maruda Yang in July 1920, and they had four children including Lester Kim.
