This collections primarily contains clipping files from the Los Angeles Times Beijing Bureau, chiefly dating from the 1980s and 1990s. Materials include news clippings, news wires, magazine articles, speeches, press releases, published reports, newsletters, and pamphlets reflecting a broad range of topics covered by the Times in China.

The clipping files are arranged alphabetically into two series: by subject (Boxes 1-61) and people (62-72). There is also a small grouping of article clippings and personnel files for LA Times correspondents David Holley, Jim Mann, and Rone Tempest (Box 73) and three folders of administrative records consisting of a file related to Chinese employees of the Times, expense receipts for correspondent David R. Holley; and a "Los Angeles Times Travel & Entertainment Guide: Policy for Reimbursable Business Expenses" guide (Box 74).
