This collection consists of the papers of USC professor, David James. James is a professor of Critical Studies at the University of Southern California in the Cinematic Arts school. These papers include photocopies of scholarly articles and chapters from books, clippings, periodicals, film stills, and a film reel.

Biographical / Historical

David James is a critical studies professor at the University of Southern California in the School of Cinematic Arts. He has written Written Within and Without: A Study of Blake’s Milton (1979); Allegories of Cinema: American Film in the 60s (1989); Power Misses: Essays across (Un)popular Culture (1996); The Most Typical Avant-Garde: History and Geography of Minor Cinemas in Los Angeles (2005); Rock ‘N’ Film: Cinema’s Dance with Popular Music (2016); and Power Misses II: Cinema, Asian and Modern (2021).
