Scope and Contents

Collection consists of 120mm and 35mm color slides of production stills for film projects worked on by American cinematographer John Schmitz (1897-1983). Includes images from Ben-Hur (1959), Oklahoma! (1955), PT 109 (1963), Quo Vadis (1951), and King Solomon’s Mines (1950). Also included is a 1973 letter from William Schaefer of USC Special Collections requesting Schmitz’s materials along with an article about Irene Schmitz, John’s wife.
