Scope and Contents
Collection consists of Rotary Photographic Company portrait postcards of various late 19th and early 20th century stage actresses including Sarah Bernhardt, Constance Collier, Ethel Irving, Billie Burke, and Lillian Nordica. Description notes from Holland present on many postcards. Also present is a 1968 letter from Holland to Robert Knutson about the donation to USC.
Originally part of the Ethel Barrymore Memorial Theatre Arts Collection at the University of Southern California Library 100 Series, and was labeled 100-29.

Biographical / Historical
Rotary Photographic Co. was founded in 1898 in London, and it specialized in the rapid printing of photographs for brochures, calendars, and postcards. Rotary sold negative paper and bromide printing paper under the name Rotograph. It went into voluntary liquidation in 1916.
D.J. Holland was a childhood friend of Ethel Barrymore’s in Philadelphia during the late 19th century.
