Allan Jones film stills
Scope and Contents
Collection consists of film stills featuring American actor and musician Allan Jones. The stills are composed of two from A Day at the Races (1937), fifteen from A Night at the Opera (1935), seven from The Firefly (1937), three from Show Boat (1936), three from One Night in the Tropics (1940), and three from Larceny with Music (1943). Additionally two 1968 letters, one from Allan Jones’ representation and one letter from MGM Studios’ Publicity Department, that were sent to Robert Knutson about Jones’ materials.
Originally part of the Ethel Barrymore Memorial Theatre Arts Collection at the University of Southern California Library 100 Series, and was labeled 100-25.

Biographical / Historical
Allan Jones (1907-1992) was an American actor and musician whose career spanned from the 1930s through 1980. Jones was best known for his roles as the romantic lead in the Marx Brothers’ films A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races.
