Mrs. H.F. Boesche letter
Scope and Contents
Collection consists of a 1936 letter and envelope from English writer and playwright W. Somerset Maugham to Mrs. Henry F. (Edith) Boesche in response to a fan letter. The letter was sent from the residence of Bertram Alanson, Maugham’s friend and stockbroker.
Originally part of the Ethel Barrymore Memorial Theatre Arts Collection at the University of Southern California Library 100 Series, and was labeled 100-21.

Biographical / Historical
W. Somerset Maugham was an English playwright, novelist, and short-story writer. He was among the most popular writers of his era and reputedly the highest-paid author during the 1930s. His best known publication is Of Human Bondage (1915).
