This collection consists of the photographs, artwork, and papers of makeup artist, Newton J. Jones (1908-1983), known professionally as Newt Jones, and spans the 1920s through the 1960s. Jones worked with many major studios in Hollywood. Some of his credits include "Alice In Wonderland" (1933), "The Crusades" (1935), "The Three Musketeers" (1939), "The Grapes of Wrath" (1940), "From Here to Eternity" (1953), "The Old Man and the Sea" (1958), and "My Fair Lady" (1964). Many of the photographs show Jones at work on set and on location, working with iconic stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood, including Montgomery Clift, Peter Lorre, Marlene Dietrich, Abbott and Costello, Henry Fonda, Boris Karloff, Humphrey Bogart, Lucille Ball, and many others. The collection includes many autographed photos to Jones from the stars he worked with.
