Scope and Contents

This collection consists of the papers of American writer and producer Bernard Gordon (1918-2007), including scripts, personal papers, books, floppy disks, photographs, and personal finance records. Gordon was a blacklisted writer who often wrote screenplays under the name Raymond T. Marcus. He wrote films like Flesh and Fury (1952), Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956), and 55 Days at Peking (1963). He also wrote two autobiographical books about his blacklisting and the government surveillance that ensued.

Biographical / Historical

Bernard Gordon (1918-2007) was an American writer and producer who was blacklisted and often credited under the pseudo name Raymond T. Marcus. He wrote screenplays for Flesh and Fury (1952), Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956), and 55 Days at Peking (1963). Gordon worked on a number of films in Madrid, Spain after being blacklisted in Hollywood, until moving back to the United States in the 1970s. He then wrote two autobiographical books about his blacklisting and the government surveillance that ensued.
