Biographical / Historical

Jerry Wald (1911-1962) was an American screenwriter and producer. Wald’s career began writing a radio column for the New York Evening Graphic while in journalism school, which gave way to producing several Rambling ‘Round Radio Row featurettes for Warner Brothers’ short subject division Vitaphone in the early 1930s. Wald’s writing credits include Navy Blues (1941), The Roaring Twenties (1939), and 20 Million Sweethearts (1934), while his most notable motion pictures he produced were Mildred Pierce (1945), Key Largo (1948), and Peyton Place (1957).
