Scope and Contents
This collection consists of television production materials, scripts, correspondence, financial records, press, photographs, personal papers, and books belonging to American television producer Hunt Stromberg Jr. (1923-1986). Much of the collection reflects Stromberg's work as program director for KABC-TV in the 1950s, as a network programming executive for CBS in the early 1960s, and afterwards as an independent producer. Notable items include a binder of "Lost in Space" (1965-1968) storyboards (Box 22) and "Gilligan’s Island" (1964-1967) production materials (Box 21).
Among the series, there is substantial overlap between the scripts, treatments, and story concepts (arranged alphabetically by project title); the business, correspondence, and production files (arranged broadly by decade); and the television project files (arranged alphabetically by title), and similar materials for the same project may appear across all three series.
Personal materials related to Stromberg can be found throughout the collection. There are also personal papers of Eugene Banks (Box 28), who had a relationship with Stromberg.
