The Notes series consists of the extensive notes Dahl took on a variety of topics, from teaching to travel. He would sometimes file these notes separately from related material. The notes in this series are distinct from the notes in the Compositions series. There is overlap with the Correspondence and Teaching series.

The contents of the Clippings and catalogs series are records of publicity of Dahl's own work as composer, conductor and performer, and also document the work and careers of other composers and performers with whom Dahl worked, or whom Dahl knew personally.
