Biographical / Historical

James A. Peterson (1913-1992) taught sociology at the University of Southern California from 1951 until 1979. Peterson served as chairman of USC's sociology department from 1960 to 1963, founder and director of the Marriage and Family Counseling Training Program, founder of the Cortese Institute, co-founder and director of the USC Emeriti Center, and from 1977 to 1979 ting director of the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. Peterson was a frequent guest on the Art Linkletter television show and hosted his own TV show on marriage and family relationships.
