Scope and Contents

The Revista Crisis collection comprises nearly a full run of the Argentine magazine, Crisis. The collection also contains approximately 20 letters written by prominent literary figures to the editors of Crisis regarding their contributions to the magazine. Authors of the collection's correspondence include Pablo Neruda, Juan L. Ortiz, Ernesto Cardenal, Ernesto Sábato, Julio Cortázar, Rafael Alberti, and Jorge Amado. The issues of the magazine are organized into four eras:

  1. First period: Issues 1-40 (May 1973 - August 1976). Directed by Federico Vogelius and Eduardo Galeano. Complete, with 20 serigraphies by Argentinian artists that were included in the first 20 issues, and 19 reproductions of historical documents that were included in issues 21-40, with the exception of issue 40, which only includes an index.
  2. Second period: Issues 41-53 (April 1986 - April 1987). Directed by: Vicente Zito Lema.
  3. Third period: Issues 54-80 (October 1987 - June 1990). Directed by Eduardo Jozami and José Luis Díaz Colodrero.
  4. Fourth period (changed name to Adios Crisis, Fin de Siglo): Issues 1-18 (July 1987 - December 1988).

Lastly, the collection contains an original drawing from issue no. 39 and a second unidentified original drawing with manuscript notes about publishing the drawing in Crisis.
