Biographical Note on Andres Soler and the Soler Family
Andrés Díaz (1898-1969) (known as Andrés Soler) was born in Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico, the son of actors Irene Pavia Soler and Domingo Díaz. He was the brother of Fernando (1896-1979), Julián (1907-1977), Domingo (1901-1961), Gloria, Irene, Elvira, and Mercedes Soler. Five of the siblings, Fernando, Andrés, Julián, Domingo, and Mercedes Soler made up the "Hermanos Soler" and were known as the "Dinastía Soler" (Soler Dynasty) for their decades of work in Latin American theater and film. The family initially worked as a children's theater group in Los Angeles, California, beginning in 1916, before forming a theatrical company in Cuba in 1923. The family later returned to Mexico and began performing at the Teatro Ideal. Andres Soler served as director of the Instituto Cinematográfico Teatral y Radio y Television del la Asociacion Nacional de Actores in the 1950s.
Biographical Note on Gloria Jordan
Gloria Jordan (born circa 1924) was born in Panama, the daughter of actors Fe Malumbres (died 1953) and Jose Jordan; she was the goddaughter of Andres Soler. Jordan began acting at a young age in the Malumbres-Soler theater company traveling throughout Latin America. She later worked in Mexican theater, films, and television.
