Biographical / Historical

Born Tolbert Virgil Anthony II in 1922, Tony Anthony attended the University of Kansas, and earned his architectural degree from USC. Anthony co-founded Anthony and Langford Architects in 1950. Along with partners V. Wallace Langford and E. Roger Wilner. Anthony created city halls, libraries, community centers, schools, and fire stations for the cities of Los Angeles, Whittier, Huntington Beach, Seal Beach, Norwalk, El Monte, Santa Fe Springs, Garden Grove, Compton, Lakewood, Glendora, Westminster, City of Commerce and City of Industry.

The USC Libraries Architecture & Fine Arts Library transferred custody of the Tony Anthony collection to the USC Libraries Special Collections unit on April 19, 2024. The collection's box labels still list the Architecture & Fine Arts Library as the holding repository.
