Biographical / Historical
L.A. County Prop. A-1996 was led by Esther Feldman and the Trust for Public Land. The L.A. County Board of Supervisors, acting as the Board of Directors of the L.A. County Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD), placed a ballot measure before county voters to levy an additional property assessment for specific park and conservation projects and purposes.
L.A. County Prop. A-1996 was supported by a diverse, multi-sector coalition of leaders and organizations from throughout Los Angeles County, including over 800 endorsements. Prop. A included over 150 specific projects for parks, mountains, Santa Monica Bay, beaches, trails, wildlife habitat, gang prevention, senior recreation and other park facilities. The Chair of the Yes on Prop. A campaign (1992) was Steven Soboroff.
