This book mostly contains letters mounted on pages, assembled by A. Gaylord Beaman for Garland's seventy-third birthday. The letters are addressed to Beaman from various sources. Most of the letters were separated from the book and stored (and cataloged) with the larger "Correspondence" series. The person who separated the letters wrote the name of each letter's author on the page where the letter was originally mounted. Following is a list of contributors whose letters are still mounted in the book. Authors' names that are not fully legible in this book are not included in the list.

Aside from the various tributes addressed to Beaman, this book also contains photographs of Garland, news clippings, a script for a radio tribute by Mary Isabel Garland, and a menu for the event at the University Club of Los Angeles. An accompanying folder arranged with this book contains copies of news clippings and photographs about the birthday celebration and original correspondence regarding the donation of the bound album of tribute letters to USC in 1968.
