The subseries includes materials from Alphonzo Bell's campaign effort to serve as United States Senator representing California in 1976. Included in the subseries is information about his campaign, the Friends of Alphonzo Bell committee, political issues, press releases, correspondence, article clippings, endorsement letters, letters to the editor, event invitations, notes, contact lists, campaign mailings and pamphlets, advertisements, invoices, and surveys. Alphonzo Bell lost in the Primary election to Republican S.I. Hayakawa who later went on to defeat incumbent Democrat John V. Tunney.
