The subseries contains information on Alphonzo Bell's consecutive campaigns for a seat in the United States House of Representatives. Included in the subseries is information on the congressional primary and general elections, candidates, members of Congress from California, news media coverage of the primary and general elections, information on political issues, items pertaining to Alphonzo Bell's campaigns including: The Bell for Congress Committee, Citizens for Bell committee, campaign headquarters, contribution materials, financial information, statements, advertisements, speeches, correspondence, and information on the Hatch Act. Alphonzo Bell ran successful Congressional Campaigns and was elected Representative for the 16th District from 1961-1963, the 28th District from 1963-1975, and was redistricted to the 27th District from 1975-1977.
