Source Materials: Police Misconduct Lawyer Referral Service
Scope and Content
The series consists of source materials related to the use of force that were collected and analyzed by Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue. Included are testimonies and statistics that were obtained from the Police Misconduct Lawyer Referral Service, a nonprofit organization dedicated to counseling victims of police abuse; the Board of Police Commissioners' report regarding the Rodney King incident; memoranda and correspondence; excerpts from the Los Angeles City Charter regarding police discipline; instructional materials from a physical contact control course offered by The Police S.A.F.E.T.Y. System, a law enforcement training and consulting firm; and a case study of one police officer's experience using deadly force.
