 File — Box: 1, Folder: 4

Scope and Content

From the Collection:

This collection consists of letters, programs, and pamphlets written during and after the First World War. The letters are from American soldiers and from the Belgian Correspondence Office. Most are addressed to Mrs. N. N. Brown, whose family appears to have provided support to American troops in the form of correspondence and care packages. The military notices provide information regarding communication between Belgian soldiers and their families. The programs and pamphlets in the collection are for plays and musicals, as well as for tourist attractions for American soldiers in England and France. The Army Field Notebook by Lt. Col. Howard R. Smalley provides information for officers about different aspects of military life, including equipment, first aid, and transportation. It contains notes and personal information written by William R. Flournoy.
