Scope and Content

The one folder in this subseries contains several related items of memoranda including:

"Memorandum of Understanding U.S. Forest Service, R-5; California Fish and Game Commission; California Department of Fish and Game, and National Park Service"--regarding the need to control the deer and bear populations in the Sequoia National Game Refuge (1965-1966),

Memorandum from Michael McCloskey (Conservation director of the Sierra Club) to the "Director" of the National Park Service regarding Disney's plans to create a one-half mile set-back between the Mineral King Game Refuge and the wilderness zone within Sequoia National Park (March 8, 1967),

Memorandum from John Harper to Mike [Michael] McCloskey suggesting activities for the Mineral King Task Force regarding a proposed road to be built through Mineral King (March 9, 1967),

Memorandum from Larry Silver of the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, Inc. to Tom Pillsbury regarding the Supreme Court's ruling on the Sierra Club's challenge of the development of Mineral King as a ski resort (June 26, 1973),

Memorandum from Bob [Robert] Henderson to CinC, Mineral King Task Force, regarding copies of letters he wrote to eight senators urging support of Senate Bill 88 which would include Mineral King as part of Sequoia National Park, as proposed by Senator Alan Cranston (May 23, 1978). Carbon copies of the letters to the senators are included with Henderson's letter to the Mineral King Task Force.
