This collection contains subject files and publications related to the Central American crisis from the 1970s through the 1980s that were collected for the Central America Research Institute (CARIN), an independent organization in Berkeley, CA, which existed from the 1970s until 1990. There are materials on countries including El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and on U.S. policy towards the region. Materials are arranged into two groups: subject files (Boxes 1-42) and publications (Boxes 43-258). The subject files contain printed documents including reports, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, etc., on various topics. The publications are organized broadly in alphabetical order and include a wide variety of titles.
