 File — Box: 2, Folder: 8

Scope and Content

From the Collection:

The Jewish Home for the Aged of Los Angeles records consist of meeting minutes, memorandums, reports, brochures, and newsletters produced and collected by this organization. The Jewish Home for the Aged was originally located in the Boyle Heights section of Los Angeles. In 1976, the Home moved to a new residential facility in the San Fernando Valley (the planning, construction, and dedication of which are referred to in the records), and then merged with the California Home for the Aged, resulting in a new organization called the Jewish Home for the Aging of Greater Los Angeles, now known as the Los Angeles Jewish Home. The records document the activities of the Home primarily during the tenure of Maurice J. Ostomel as Executive Director. Information about the activities of both the administration (including the Board of Directors) and the residents (in the form of newsletters) are included. Also included are brochures and some information on the California Home for the Aged, and newsletters published by the merged organization, the Jewish Home for the Aging of Greater Los Angeles.
