Photo Album "7", 1922-1946
Scope and Content
This album is a white 3-ring binder with plastic photo pages and photos pasted onto black paper inside the photo pages. The first photo page contains a two-sided handwritten 1946 letter from Charles Philip Fox to J.A. Shields regarding a photo trade agreement. There seem to have been several photos of various circuses (including Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey, Hagenbeck-Wallace, Al G. Barnes and Sells-Floto) enclosed with the letter. The first eleven photos are of spectators, animals, and wagons at a Cole Bros. Circus in 1937. Then there are twenty-five photos of Hagenbeck-Wallace wagons, horses, and a parade. Next are sixteen photos of a 1923 circus parade. There are eight photos of John Robinson Circus workers in 1922. The following eight photos depict Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus horses in 1936. These photos are labeled “from CP Fox” and are presumably some of the photos mentioned in the letter at the front of the album. After that, there are twenty-two photos from 1922 of a Sparks Circus parade and wagons, camels, zebras, and elephants. Then there are eighteen photos from 1925 of Sells-Floto clowns, performers, and spectators. The last fourteen photos are of a Sparks Circus parade.
