Scope and Contents

Richard Nixon as president-elect series consists of correspondence, applications, notes, reports, clippings, audiotapes, audiocassettes, ephemera, and photographs, November 1968-January 1969, created, collected, and used by Herbert G. Klein during the transition period between the end of the Johnson administration and the start of Nixon's first term as president. Included is routine correspondence; information about both campaign and Klein's finances; reports prepared for the President-elect; ephemera from the inauguration; letters from constituents with suggestions for administration policies; recordings of Klein speeches and remarks; and job applications from potential staffers.
